Suzanne BERNE ... On Becoming a Writer

SUZANNE BERNE on why she became a writer:

“Some of my most intensely happy moments have come from reading books I love. I remember, as a child, leaving the library with a book I had been waiting for—running out of the library as if I had stolen it—the feeling of such excitement that it must be illicit. Often I would read a book and want to do that same thing, to create the feelings I had while reading.”

BERNE Suzanne [1961-] Novelist. Born in Washington, D.C., U.S. Novels The Ghost at the Table (2006); A Perfect Arrangement (2001); A Crime in the Neighbourhood (1997: winner of the 1999 Orange Prize for Fiction; shortlisted for the 1998 Edgar Award for Best First Mystery Novel)
