hi- you have a very interesting blog and I enjoyed scrolling through it. Just a question- as a high schooler, I am exploring options for the future. What kind of high school/college courses did you take for becoming an editor/ what do you feel was most beneficial for you?
Hello Brooke - Thanks for your kind words. Excellence in English is imperative if you wish to be a good editor. There's no two ways about it. You must enjoy reading. Read as widely as possible - both fiction and non-fiction. These will come in handy when you are called to edit fiction and nonfiction. You must love writing too. I believe it is irrelevant what you major in as long as your English-language skills are excellent. I majored in economics and this helped me a lot when I edited a variety of non-fiction books.
