The Kite Runners
BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I have yet to sink my teeth into Khaled Hosseini’s first novel, The Kite Runners (Bloomsbury/Riverhead, 2003), the story of friendship, childhood betrayal and ethnic tension in pre-Taliban Afghanistan. Despite having heard so many wonderful things about it, I have yet to get round to reading this best-selling novel. The movie will be out in December 2007. His new novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns (Bloomsbury/Riverhead, 2007), a story of women in a land torn by strife and upheaval, has been setting the book charts on fire since it was released in May 2007.

I too have yet to read this book. I ordered a copy from an online bookseller yesterday and hope to fit in this year. Enjoy your read!
The Kite Runner movie is released in theaters December 14th, and I cannot wait. I am a huge fan of Khaled Hosseini, David Benioff, and Marc Forster. I highly recommend you read the novel before you see the movie, but if that's not possible, definitely go check out the film!
Kite Runner Movie
Hi Eric, good to know someone else who hasn't read the book. I haven't, and am tempted to go straight to a thousand splendid suns.
i read the book and i loved it! i just watched the movie and was a bit disappointed. so much emotions and details were left out. i bought a thousand splendid suns a while back but haven't had a chance to read it...still trying to finish atonement, which i must say is surprisingly identical to the movie.
