On September 15, 2005, Vintage will be bringing out a 50th Anniversary edition of this timeless classic of love and obsession between the middle-aged Humbert Humbert and the 12-year-old Dolores Haze. A classic worth rereading. In defending Lolita in 1959, Canadian novelist Robertson Davies said that the theme of the novel is “not the corruption of an innocent child by a cunning adult, but the exploitation of a weak adult by a corrupt child.”
