Lorrie MOORE ... A Gate at the Stairs (Alfred A. Knopf, 2009)

LORRIE MOORE, a professor of English at the University of Wisconsin, is known more as a short-story writer than a novelist, though she is equally adept at both forms. A Gate at the Stairs is her third novel. It has been 15 years since her last novel, Who Will Run the Frog Hospital?, which was published in 1994, and 11 years since her last book, Birds of America, a critically acclaimed short-story collection. Her first novel, Anagrams, was published in 1986. Her recent Collected Stories (Faber & Faber, 2008) is a selection of her best stories from Birds of America, Like Life and Self-Help (her début in 1985).

Read her latest novel, A Gate at the Stairs, and then read her Collected Stories.
