The Best of the Bookers Shortlist

WHO will win the Best of the Bookers? The result will be out on Thurday, July 10, 2008. My personal favourites are Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children and J.G. Farrell’s The Siege of Krishnapur, the second novel in his Empire Trilogy which comprises Troubles, The Siege of Krishnapur and The Singapore Grip.

The six shortlisted novels, chosen from the list of 41 Booker Prize and Man Booker Prize winners are:

3. Disgrace (1999, Secker & Warburg; Vintage paperback) / J.M. Coetzee
4. The Siege of Krishnapur (1973, Weidenfeld & Nicolson; Phoenix paperback) / J.G. Farrell
5. The Conservationist (1974, Jonathan Cape; Bloomsbury paperback) / Nadine Gordimer
6. Midnight’s Children (1981, Jonathan Cape; Vintage paperback) / Salman Rushdie

The winner will be announced as part of the London Literature Festival on July 10, 2008
