Yiyun Li’s 2005 short-story collection,
A Thousand Years of Good Prayers, won the 2005 Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award, the 2005 Guardian First Book Award, the Pushcart Prize, the Plimpton Prize for New Writers, the Whiting Writers’ Award, among other awards and prizes.
The Vagrants (Random House/Fourth Estate, February 2009) is her début novel. Not bad for a person who left China to become an immunologist, and ending up as one of America’s best young novelists! Heartiest congratulations, Yiyun!
