Colum McCANN ... Zoli (2006)

COLUM McCANN is one Irish writer who isn’t interested in writing about the typical suburban middle-class Irish story like most Irish writers. The Dublin-born writer prefers exploring the stories of others. His latest novel, Zoli (2006), delves into the tale of a gypsy woman’s life in 1950s Eastern Europe and in so doing paints a wide-ranging picture of an entire culture we have not been privy to.
