Heaney's whiskey-inspired tribute to Barack Obama, viz., "There's no one else like him alive", seems embarrassingly banal in addition to being decidedly clunky in prose style, especially from a poet of his standing. Perhaps it sounds more convincing in an impenetrable Irish brogue.
Honestly, a brilliant poet. Honest and so unassuming.
